I am Vanessa Collen

My interest for editing started at the ripe age of 12 when I would create short films whenever I’d catch up with my friends and edit them together using Window Movie Maker. This interest for film and video editing has since developed into a passion, where I find it to be a means to shape media in a creative way and tell compelling stories.
Through my 10 months of experience as a News Video Editor for Channel Nine, I have gained extensive knowledge on the editing process, cutting overlay, grabs, voice overs and packages for Nine News bulletins, The Today Show and Today Extra. I am experienced in using Avid Media Composer, cutting projects from assembly through to its final cut.
Through my Bachelor of Communications (Media Arts Production) degree at UTS, I have been able to refine my editing skills and develop into a detail oriented, collaborative person. I have become well versed in utilising the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, particularly Premiere Pro and After Effects. Additionally, I have gained hands on experience through working on student films, and completing production based internships at both SBS and Captain Bagrat Media Productions. I am hoping to build upon this knowledge through working in the film and television industry, particularly in the post-production sector.
